County Seat of Stephens County, Breckenridge is rich in oil history and, in its heyday, was labeled the Fastest Growing, Busiest Oil City in the USA. Presently, the economy is based on oil and gas, modular home manufacturing, ranching, service, retail as well as a diversity of other manufacturing facilities. Recreation is big business with an abundance of hunting. Nestled between Hubbard Creek Lake, Lake Daniels and Possum Kingdom Lake, the area has much to offer in water recreation and camping. Breckenridge is home to a 9-hole golf course and a shady City Park with aquatic center, covered pavilion, and horseshoe pits.
