Gorman
HOME OF PEACEFUL SPRING-FED BASS
LAKE
Gorman
is home of spring fed Bass Lake. Discovered in the mid-1800s, the cool waters
of the lake are a constant pleasure. Frank Grey Memorial Park is situated alongside
the peaceful lake, and was Gorman’s (then called Shin Oaks) original home.
In 1888, the town relocated to its current location and was aggressive in the
oil boom, shooting its population up past 20,000. Today, the quiet little town
of Gorman has an economy that is rich in diversity. High-speed broadband services
and a board-certified acupuncture physician bring signs of the progressive metropolitan
areas to this superior ranching and farming area. Recreation includes hunting,
fishing, and birding. Gorman has the renowned ZJ’s Steakhouse. The annual
Peanut Festival celebrates our heritage in the Peanut Farming industry and is
held the 2nd Saturday in September. This festival includes a parade, entertainment,
booths, street dance, queen coronation, BBQ cook-off, ranch rodeo, antique car
show, and Goober Bake-Off. Contest. Chamber of Commerce, PO Box 266, Gorman
