Snyder
The Land of the White Buffalo
Snyder
is where buffalo hunter J. Wright Mooar, killed one of only 7 white buffalo
ever seen in the U.S. The original hide is on display at the ranch home of Mooar’s
granddaughter Judy Hays. The White Buffalo Festival is held annually in October.
Another favorite for visitors of Snyder is the “West Texas Western Swing
Festival” every year during the 2nd week of June at the Scurry County
Coliseum. The biggest names in western swing music perform for 4 days and nights.
Sites in Scurry County include fields of snow-white cotton, herds of Texas cattle,
miles of bobbing pump jacks bowing to past and present, and oilrigs highlighting
the terrain like magnificent monuments. You will see the most beautiful sunsets
and starry nights your mind can imagine. The Scurry County Museum traces the
history of the county and offers a variety of special exhibits. Visit Snyder
- the hospitality, like the warm and friendly sun, shines all year long! Chamber
